Privacy Policy

TheFriendlyChatBuddy is a companion that sends friendly text messages. Doing that means we handle some personal information. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do with it.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (or your Google account id if you sign in with Google).
• Line details: the name, phone number, and any notes you add for each person the bot texts.
• Conversations: every message sent to and from the bot. The bot keeps this history so it can remember what you told it; that memory is the product.
• Billing: payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers.

How we use it

Only to run the service:

• Message text is sent to our AI provider (Groq) so the bot can write its replies.
• Phone numbers are shared with Twilio, our SMS carrier, to deliver texts.
• Billing details are shared with Stripe to charge your subscription.

We never sell your data, show ads, or share your conversations for marketing. Revenue comes from subscriptions only.

Text messaging (SMS) disclosures

• You (or the person you add) will receive recurring check-in texts. If you add someone else's number, we first text them a confirmation request and check-ins begin only after they reply YES themselves. Message frequency varies with the schedule you choose.
• Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient's carrier plan.
• Reply STOP to any message to opt out instantly. Reply START to opt back in, and HELP for help.
• Consent to receive texts is never a condition of purchase, and phone numbers collected for texting are never shared with third parties for their marketing.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Remove a line and the bot stops texting it. To delete your account and its conversation history entirely, email us and we will erase it.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above.
