Terms of Service
Last updated: July 6, 2026
What the service is
TheFriendlyChatBuddy sends friendly, AI-written text messages to phone numbers ("lines") you add, on schedules you choose, and replies when those lines text back. It is a companionship product: a warm hello, not a human being.
Not medical or crisis care
The bot is not a doctor, therapist, or crisis service, and its messages are not medical advice. If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking about self-harm, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US) or your local emergency number right away.
Consent is required
Add your own number and you are agreeing to receive recurring texts. Add anyone else's number only if that person has genuinely agreed to receive them; you confirm this when you add the line. Automated texts to someone who did not agree are illegal in many places (for example the TCPA in the US), and we will close accounts that send them. Every recipient can opt out instantly by replying STOP.
Billing
Pricing is per line, per month, billed through Stripe. Add or remove lines anytime and the bill is prorated. Cancel and the bot simply stops texting: no lock-in, no cancellation fee. Message and data rates from your own carrier may apply.
Acceptable use
Don't use the service to harass anyone, to send unlawful content, or to text numbers without consent. We may suspend accounts that break these rules or abuse the system.
AI-generated content
Replies are written by an AI language model. It aims to be kind and sensible, but it can be wrong, and nothing it says should be relied on as professional advice.
Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the month the claim arose.
Changes
We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the new version. We will keep the date above current.
